Starts with blue suede pumps...

I've recently became a huge fan of cobalt blue, and nothing pleased me more than these ultra-feminine pumps in an unexpected bright blue. Though this weekend was still a bit chilly, incorporating brighter colours into my wardrobe helped remind me of sunnier (and warmer) days.

I paired my bright shoes with an equally bright complementary colour. This lightweight cashmere sweater is perfect for this time of year, and though it's hard to see in the pictures, they feature a very unique detail - leather elbow patches!

Hope you're having a good week so far!

Starts with Inspiration: Floral blazers

If you’re looking for evidence that April showers bring May flowers, look no further than the three lovely blazers above. The perfect topper to a white t-shirt, jeans, and bright flats, a little botanical inspiration goes a long way when the rain is pit-pittering at your window.

Fashion News: Nordstrom's Canadian locations confirmed (and Yorkdale is one of them!)

It's finally official! Fashion reported today that Yorkdale mall has confirmed Nordstrom will be joining its growing family of fabulous stores in 2016.

Since I currently rely on business trips to the US to get my Tory Burch fix and access to other hard-to-find-in-Canada brands, this announcement is a welcome one. While the brands that will be carried in Canada have not yet been announced, I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that this arrival will provide fellow Toronto fashion-lovers much more variety and another venue to get our fashion fix.

This is also another huge plus for Yorkdale in my books. In addition to major Holt Renfrew and Hudson's Bay facelifts,  Mulberry and Salvatore Ferragamo will soon be opening standalone stores this year as well. These will be in good company with Tory Burch, Ann Taylor and All Saints in helping make Yorkdale a veritable shopping haven for those of us north of the city.

What brands are you hoping Nordstrom will bring to Canada?

UPDATE:
Nordstrom's PR department has also shared the locations of the other stores to be opening in Canada:
Fall 2014: Chinook Centre, Calgary
Spring 2015: Rideau Centre, Ottawa
Fall 2015: Pacific Centre, Vancouver
Fall 2016: Yorkdale, Toronto
TBD: Sherway Gardens, Toronto

NOTE: This post has been updated since its original publishing date of April 8, 2013. Yorkdale is not the first Canadian location as was originally stated but will be the fourth.

Wishlist: Vintage Hermes Horse Head Ring

vintage Hermes, Hermes

It's only very recently that I discovered that select Club Monaco stores display and sell carefully curated one-of-a-kind vintage pieces (I had seen these displays before, but always assume they were for viewing only). While in one of said stores today, I came across a delicate gold-tone Hermes horse head ring with exquisite detailing. Since this afternoon, I have been thinking non-stop about this ring (quick research tells me this is likely circa 1970s) and how unique it is. It's almost enough to prompt a repeat trip back to the store tomorrow just to try this on.

Starts with a sweater coat...

Mother Nature was deceptively cooperative this weekend by bringing Spring-like temperatures. It was the perfect opportunity to bring out one of my long-favourite pieces, a draped collar sweater coat. I started by adding a belt in the morning to dress-up for a brunch date and then left it open and more relaxed for an afternoon of running errands.

I paired my sweater coat with my go-to faux leather leggings and stacked black and gold accessories, which helped add a bit of edginess to an otherwise very feminine and laid-back look.

There is truly nothing as versatile and timeless as a well-made sweater coat. This particular version has an oversized draped collar, which provides dimension and movement and has lent itself well to being reinvented and worn again and again over the years.

What items in your wardrobe do you find yourself reaching for time and time again?
