Wishlist: J.Crew Pastel and Neon Statement Necklace

The love affair (aka obsession) with J.Crew statement necklaces continues. I'm absolutely loving this pastel and neon version. J.Crew truly makes some of the best quality costume jewelry I've ever seen, and even more refreshing are the reasonable price points. I'm just waiting for the next online promo to add this beauty to my collection. If you can't wait, you can snatch one up here.

Starts with Inspiration: 2013 Oscars Edition

Tonight's Oscars ceremony had no shortage of head-turning, eye-catching, breath-taking and heart-stopping gowns.  On a side note, how amazing was that performance by the Les Miserables cast? A perfect tribute to one of my favorite musicals of all time.

Nothing says casual-chic like a simple sheath adorned with a subtle splash of jewels. Not bad for someone who just decided what she'd wear hours before stepping on the red carpet.

I'm loving Amy's dove grey gown with its fitted bodice and skirt with all kinds of fluffy, feminine, and lovely detailing. Somehow, ever since seeing Ms. Adams in Enchanted, I think, "once a princess, always a princess". How fitting.

Rocking peplum and a subtle train with her flattering pixie cut, Charlize let this dress speak for itself without many accessories.

An homage to future-inspired glam - Naomi Watts' dress with its intriguing asymmetrical detail managed to be edgy while incredibly feminine all at once.

Reese Witherspoon's gown in cobalt blue, one of my favorite colours of the moment, is classic Hollywood and fits her beautifully.  I'm also loving how the colour-blocking at the waist further accentuates the figure and creates an even more dramatic hourglass shape.

I saved the best for last. My heart literally skipped a bit when I saw Jennifer Lawrence in this breathtaking Dior Haute Couture gown. It was regal, ethereal and old-Hollywood all at once. If I was getting married this year I would definitely have this silhouette and style on my gown wish list. Of course, with Jennifer Lawrence's Miss Dior ad pictures debuting this weekend, it was really no surprise she'd wow us all in Dior.

Starts with Inspiration: Jennifer Lawrence for Dior

Pictures from Jennifer Lawrence's ad campaign for Miss Dior debuted today. Looking more mature and subdued than usual, Ms. Lawrence perfectly epitomizes the femininity that this brand was historically known for. Her makeup, hair, and facial expressions are just...stunning. Especially eye-catching is the Miss Dior bag  she's modelling in the most amazing cobalt blue hue.  It perfectly conjures images of springtime in Paris - c'est magnifique!

Starts with a cashmere trapeze sweater...

On cold days, there's really nothing as lovely as cozying-up in an oversized cashmere sweater. This trapeze sweater is one of my favorite items purchased on Boxing Day. The shape on this sweater creates a really interesting cape-effect while the fitted arms help prevent the wearer from being too overwhelmed by it. It was really the unique shape of this sweater that caught my eye, the wonderfully plushness of the cashmere was an added bonus. 

To dress-up the oversized sweater for brunch this morning, I paired it with a pair of faux leather pants and a printed scarf with grey accents.

Starts with a printed silk shirt...

Over the past few months, I've added quite a number of pieces to my wardrobe in an effort to inject colour and texture. Among my favorites is this abstract plaid blouse in semi-sheer silk. In a relaxed but tailored fit that's perfect for tucking-in, it added some much-needed brightness to an otherwise bone-chillingly cold weekend. 

Even better was the fact that my purple handbag paired wonderfully with it!

Despite the cold temperatures this weekend, it was still filled with delicious dinners out, shopping, and lazy movie nights at home. Among the highlights were homemade macarons from my sister, a belated Valentine's dinner with my hubby, and re-watching Hugo. How did you brave the cold?

Starts with Inspiration: 2013 Grammy Awards Edition

Last night's Grammys was yet another night of eye candy and dress-drooling galore. Here are my top three personal faves from the red carpet.

Rihanna in vintage Alaia and romantic curls turned heads. This was a welcomed change from her usual edgy looks. The colour, the shape, and understated jewelry were perfect. And while the look was less "look-at-me" than her other red carpet looks, this was definitely not subtle or boring.

 While Carrie Underwood's  $31 million-dollar Johnathon Arndt necklace was the buzz of the evening, her gorgeous Roberto Cavalli gown didn't play second fiddle either. The pattern, shape and amazing fit were absolutely stunning - I could imagine this in white for a perfect bridal gown.

Finally, continuing on her white-hot streak, Taylor Swift wows again in her Grecian style J.Mendel with silver detailing. Love, love, loved this!

Wishlist: Givenchy Antigona Satchel

Smooth, structured leather with an ever-practical shoulder strap. Could this bag be any more perfect? I have literally been obsessing over pictures of Olivia Palermo, Miranda Kerr, and Zoe Saldana with theirs for weeks (Olivia's croc version is to die for!) and am secretly hoping that a bag-fairy can surprise me with one. A girl can always dream, right? Available at Barneys and Bergdorf Goodman.

Starts with a bright purple sweater...

On grey winter days, it's so tempting to dress in equally gloomy hues and just stay in with a good book and hot tea. Luckily, all you need is a bit of bright purple to add a bit of a skip and hop into an otherwise monotone outfit (and day).

With sub-zero temperatures also come the perfect time to wear suede booties. Though only the very brave would wear these on icy sidewalks (I personally wouldn't recommend this). 

I'm not going to lie, it was really really cold while we were shooting this! I hope wherever you are, you're keeping warm and cheery!
