Fashion News: Kleinfeld's is coming to Toronto!

Be still my wedding-obsessed heart, the newly re-branded Hudson's Bay announced today that it will be launching a Toronto location of wedding dress mecca, Kleinfeld Bridal, at its Queen St. flagship store in early 2014.

Although it's been over a year since my own wedding, I still recall the thrilling rush of shopping for my dress and how truly exhilarating the whole wedding-planning experience was. Despite having visited fifteen different bridal shops and having tried on close to seventy-five dresses, there's nothing like that feeling of finding "the one" (in this case a Jenny Lee number at White Toronto). This announcement was quite simply the buttercream icing on my three-tiered cake!

Starts with a blue patterned blouse...

This top was purchased years ago for a friend's birthday party, and this weekend while looking for something to wear to another friend's baby shower, I found this tucked away. Styled with a shiny statement necklace for contrast, metallic belt to add shape, and fitted blazer for warmth, this old piece was reinvented and ready for another party.

A purple bag was added to provide additional pop while neutral shoes were used to anchor the ensemble without being too overwhelming.

Starts with a cobalt blue blazer...

It's no secret that I love blue (as evidenced here and here). To celebrate the weather finally starting to warm up this weekend, I brought out my new cobalt blue sweater blazer for a weekend brunch.

Playing with complementary colours, I paired it with my tangerine J.Crew necklace another favorite piece in my wardrobe.

Always a fan of unique details, I also love the leather-trimmed zipper pockets and the flattering draped collar.

Starts with Inspiration: Leather-sleeved trench

Feminine shape? Check. Edgy leather detail? Check. The leather-sleeved trench is a refreshing take on the classic coat that is ubiquitous on every fashionista's wardrobe essentials list.  With versions by Burberry, Rag and Bone, and ASOS, there is also no shortage of options ranging from luxe to cheap-and-chic. My personal favourite is the Mackage version pictured above. At half the price of the luxe versions but still boasting genuine lamb leather and Mackage's signature asymmetrical shape, it's still a decadent indulgence nonetheless, but that of course is all a matter of perspective.

Fashion News: Zara online shopping for Canada starts tomorrow!

Finally the wait is over - Zara will be offering online shopping starting tomorrow! For people like me, this is a welcomed announcement. I always seem to fall in love with pieces that just happen to be out of my size. With online shopping, perhaps there's hope yet? Happy shopping!
